Frequently Asked Questions

Of course! but is typical on every free walking tour around the world to tip your guide at the end of the tour. Tips are usually around 10 USD or the same amount in the local currency, but at the end you choose how much to give depending on how much you liked the tour.
There are many free walking tour companies in Mexico and around the world and you are free to choose the one that you think will give you the best experience. That is why, in Free Walking Tour Mexico, we try hard every day to give you the best experiences and more options so that you will want to come again. Your satisfaction is a reflection of our reputation and we will make the biggest effort to ensure that you are satisfied at the end of the day and always choose the purple umbrella!
There is no need to book in advance, you can just show up at the meeting point. However, we do recommend you book online first so that we can know how many people to expect and how many guides to send. On top of that, you will be able to see if there are changes in the calendar and get more detailed info on the tour.
Yes: Be aware of copycats. There are many companies pretending to be us, with pink, red, yellow, orange and even purple umbrellas, but they do not belong to our company. Our guide will have a purple umbrella or t-shirt with our logo and if you booked previously your name will be on our list.
You are under no obligation to tip your guide if you feel that your tour was not worth it, but if you had a good time and you feel that your guide deserves a tip, we encourage you to do it, as that is the only way we are capable of continuing providing these services. As mentioned before, it is recommended that you tip around 10 USD as that is the typical amount all over the world, but take into consideration that a part of the guides tip goes to the company to pay expenses.
Please remember that we offer free tours in Mexico City, Merida, Guadalajara, Oaxaca, and many more. So if you are traveling city to city feel free to take all of them. Besides the free tours, we offer many low-cost tours such as street food tours and specialised walking tours. if you choose to have more personalised attention or a special request, we also offer private tours for all budgets from basic to VIP.
Of course, and it is highly recommended, free tours cover mostly the city center and our other tours cover a wider range of activities, so choose any other experience from our list. We have many options for booking your experience. You can do it directly on our site for a better price or through one of our partners.
